Funding Announced For Louisbourg Lighthouse

The federal government says it’s spending $1.3 million to refurbish the Louisbourg Lighthouse.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says the work will include a variety of historic concrete repairs, surface cleaning and recoating of the light tower as well as other interior and exterior repairs.

Construction has started and is expected to be done in time for the lighthouse’s 100th anniversary event next year.

A temporary light will be put in place while the work is underway.
