Dr. Robert Strang is retiring as the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.
Premier Tim Houston says he’s accepted Strang’s retirement notice that’s effective in December.
Strang has worked in the province’s healthcare system for 27 years.
He started in 1999 as the medical officer of health for the former Capital District Health Authority.
He became the province’s acting deputy chief medical officer of health in 2007 before becoming Chief Medical Officer of Health later that year.
The Premier’s Office says the search for a new chief medical officer of health will start soon.
