Cape Breton Unemployment Rate 13.1% In March

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 13.1% March.

That’s up from 12.2% in February and 12.3% in March of last year.

Meanwhile, the national jobless rate rose by a tenth of a percentage point in March to 6.7%.

The Canadian economy lost 33,000 jobs last month and that’s the biggest job loss since January of 2022.

Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate in March was 6.6%, up from 6.4% in February.
