Tentative deal reached with Cape Breton Regional Police union

Cape Breton Regional Council has approved a tentative contract with the union representing the municipality’s police officers.
Council gave the OK to a proposed five-year deal that provides for an annual 2.5 per cent raise. If ratified by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union, the contract will retroactively take effect from Jan. 1, 2019 and run through the end of 2023.
The deal was reached after four negotiations sessions between the municipality and the union.
