Sydney Native MacIvor Picks Up Screen Award
Sydney native Daniel MacIvor picked up a Canadian Screen Award at last night’s ceremony in Toronto.
MacIvor won the award for original screenplay for his movie Weirdos.
The film tells the story of a 15-year-old Nova Scotia boy who runs away with his girlfriend to make a new home with his artistic mother during the US Bicentennial weekend.
Wierdos was shot in the province and had six Canadian Screen Award nominations.
However, the only other award it picked up was for Best Actress that went to Molly Parker.
Meanwhile, New Waterford native Ashley McKenzie’s first feature film Werewolf was shut out last night after picking up four Canadian Screen Award nominations.
