Sydney Mines Man Facing Weapons Charges

A Sydney Mines man is facing a host of charges after a weapon scare in North Sydney yesterday.

25 year-old William Wayne Young is charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Carrying a concealed Weapon, as well as Causing a Disturbance, Resisting a Peace Officer and 3 Breaches.

Police say they were called around the noon hour yesterday about a man with a gun who went into the North Sydney mall.

They say officers arrested the man soon after they arrived at the mall, and the weapon turned out to be an air-soft replica rifle.

No one was injured.
