Premier Commits To Cover Operating Costs For New Cape Breton Hospice

The province will provide about 1.75 million dollars in annual operating money for a new 10-bed hospice in Cape Breton.

Premier Stephen McNeil made the announcement this morning as part of a series of announcements today in the Regional Municipality.

The Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County is now about 2 million dollars away from its 5.2 million dollar goal for the project.

Membertou is providing the site for the hospice through a low-cost, long-term lease.

The Premier will also have new details today on health care plans for New Waterford and North Sydney.

This afternoon, he’ll announce where a new community college in downtown Sydney is going.
