BEC Will Be Torn Down To Make Way For New Health Centre, School and Nursing Home
Premier Stephen McNeil announced this morning a new community health centre in New Waterford will be going on the site of Breton Education Centre.
The province plans to tear down the 48 year-old school and replace it with a new Grade 6 to 12 school.
The school, health centre and a new nursing home on the site will form what the government is calling an innovative community hub.
The government says the new health centre will continue to offer many of the same services provided at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
That includes X-rays and ultrasounds, blood collection, cardiac services and wellness clinics.
The nursing home will have 60 beds.
The new school will have a theatre and gyms to host the annual Coal Bowl.
