Official Vote Counts Taking Place Today

Elections Nova Scotia says the official additions or counts for the provincial election will start at 10:00 this morning at all 55 returning offices.

The independent agency says a candidate is officially declared elected when the writ of election has been completed and returned by the returning officer to the Chief Electoral Officer.

The deadline to apply to a judge for a recount is four days after the official addition on Monday, December 2nd.

The unofficial results from Tuesday’s vote give the Progressive Conservatives 43 seats.

The NDP has nine seats and will form the official opposition while the Liberals have been reduced to two seats.

Independent Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin has been re-elected in Cumberland North.
