Morien Resources Says Donkin Mine Won’t Be Reopening Soon

Morien Resources that has a stake in the Donkin Mine says it’s of the view a potential return to production at the mine will not be happening soon.

The company says reopening the mine is a complex and evolving situation that will involve satisfying the conditions to lift the stop work order.

The comments come after the province announced yesterday two phases of work have to be done before the mine can re-open.

The first is an update to the mine’s hazard classification system and the adding of more monitoring measures.

The second phase requires a review of the mine’s ground control plan.
