Many Cancellations With Winter Storm On The Way

There are a number of cancellations this morning as a winter storm heads to Cape Breton.

The Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education says school is cancelled for all students and employees, today.

Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney and the Marconi Campus of the community college are also closed for the day.

The Cape Breton University campus is closed for morning and afternoon classes.

CBU says the status of evening classes will be announced by 4:00 this afternoon.

And, several flights to and from the McCurdy Sydney Airport are cancelled, this morning.

However, the province says there are no government office closures, today.

Meanwhile, Marine Atlantic is warning its schedule could again be disrupted by the weather with tonight’s crossings from North Sydney and Port aux Basques affected.

There are now gale and freezing spray warnings in effect for the Cabot Strait with wind gust of up to 120 km/hr this evening.
