Local Budget Reaction

Sydney-Victoria MP Mark Eyking says he’s disappointed there were no details on infrastructure funding in yesterday’s federal budget.

The budget did commit $14 billion dollars over 10 years for a new Building Canada Fund.

Meanwhile, Cape Breton Regional Mayor Cecil Clarke was in the House of Commons gallery yesterday for the reading of the budget.

Clarke is looking for Ottawa to fund a third of the CBRM’s 300 million dollar 5-year capital plan.

He says, although there were no details on infrastructure funding in the budget, he adds he’ll take the government at its word that the fund is due to start in April.
