Last Shot To Save Veterans Affairs Office

A North Sydney veteran is making one last charge in his battle to save the Sydney Veteran’s Affairs office, this week.

The office is due to close on Friday, along with several others across the country.

Ron Clarke will take part in a news conference at the parliamentary press gallery in Ottawa, tomorrow.

Clarke also hopes to convince Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino to reverse the decision to shut down the Sydney office.

Ottawa says local veterans will be served through local Service Canada offices, once the Sydney VA office closes.

But Clarke says veterans won’t get the same level of service they now get from Veterans Affairs staff.

He adds if the office does close, he’ll campaign against the Conservatives in the next federal election.
