June is a special month for the Heart and Stroke Foundation during which we focus our efforts on stroke awareness. Canadians need to be aware of the devastating effects of stroke and also about the ripple effect it has on families, caregivers and their communities.
Time is everything during a stroke. In fact, there is a saying that “time lost is brain lost. “The Heart and Stroke Foundation is working tirelessly to help Canadians keep what is precious.
Each year, 50,000 strokes occur in Canada. Stroke can happen at any age, but thankfully we have systems of care in place that enable us to create more survivors.
