Canadian Environment Week is held during the first week of June to coincide with World Environment Day. This special day was designated by the United Nations in 1972 to stimulate action on the environment and empower people from every corner of the globe to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.
World Environment Day (‘WED’) is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth.
The theme for this year is “Strengthening Our Environment Today for Tomorrow.” The Government of Canada has been taking strong action today to preserve and enhance the natural environment through science such as maintaining air and water quality.
