by The CBRM’s annual heavy garbage pickup started at 6:00 this morning.
People were asked to have their heavy and bulky items by the side of the road by that time.
The Solid Waste Department’s Rochelle Clarke says people who miss that deadline might not have their items collected because heavy garbage collection started at 6:00 this morning in all areas of the municipality.
Also new this year is drop off sites for garbage on Saturdays until May 31st.
People can drop off their garbage at the waste disposal facility on the Sydney Port Access Road on those Saturdays as well as the Public Works drop-off sites in Glace Bay, New Waterford and North Sydney.
