The provincial government says parking at hospitals and healthcare facilities in the province will be free, starting tomorrow.
The Progressive Conservatives promised the move during last fall’s provincial election.
The province says a ticket validation system will be put in place at some sites to make sure parking is being used by patients, visitors, healthcare workers and staff.
It says the free-parking initiative could vary or be adjusted across the province as each facility’s unique infrastructure and capacity limitations are more fully assessed.
The total cost of free parking at healthcare facilities is about $19 million a year.
