Fire At Chant’s Funeral Home Deemed Suspicious

Regional Police say the weekend fire at Chant’s Funeral Home in Sydney has been deemed suspicious.

Police say the case has now been referred to the arson investigator.

Firefighters got the call to the blaze on Alexandra Street shortly after 8:00 on Saturday night.

There were no injuries and there were no bodies or ashes at the funeral home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters say there’s extensive damage to the chapel area.

The funeral home says funerals planned for this week are still going ahead.

It says it’s had calls from churches and other organizations offering their venues.
