Ferries Delayed Because of Weather Conditions

Marine Atlantic has postponed ferry crossings from North Sydney and Port aux Basques because of weather conditions in the Cabot Strait.

The Crown Corporation says ferries are now due to depart tonight, but it also expects those crossings will be affected by the weather.

There’s now a storm warning in effect for the Cabot Strait.

Seas of 3 to 5 metres are forecast to build to between 5 and 7metres this afternoon before going down to 3 to 5 near midnight.

Ferry crossings between Nova Scotia and PEI are also cancelled, today because of weather conditions.

And, if you’re planning on taking the Confederation Bridge to PEI, certain vehicles aren’t allowed on the structure because of high winds.

That includes high-sided vehicles, cars towing trailers and motorcycles.
