Famous Painting Of Glace Bay Coming Back To Cape Breton

A painting of Glace Bay by Canadian Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris is coming back to Cape Breton next month.

Miners’ Houses, Glace Bay will be on display this spring at the Eltuek Arts Centre in northend Sydney.

Harris made the painting during the miners strike in the spring of 1925 that saw coal miner William Davis killed by company police.

The exhibition of the painting in Cape Breton is in honour of the 100th Anniversary of Davis Day that’s held annually on June 11th on the anniversary of Davis’s death to commemorate all miners killed on the job.

The painting will be on view at the Eltuek Arts Centre from May 1st to June 28th.
