Edwards Running For Mayor

Deputy Mayor James Edwards says he’s running for Mayor of the Regional Municipality in October.

The District 8 Councillor was first elected in 2020.

Edwards has also spent 18 years as the president of the Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association.

Before that, he worked for Revenue Canada for 33 years.

Edwards says he finally made the decision to run for the Mayor’s chair last night after months of being approached by people asking him to consider it.

He’s running against former Mayor Cecil Clarke who announced his candidacy in May.

Mayor Amanda McDougall-Merrill is not re-offering.
