Diesel’s Up After UARB Uses Interrupter Clause

The price of diesel took a big jump overnight after the province’s utility and review board invoked its interrupter clause.

Diesel is up by 6.4 cents a litre and now goes for a minimum of $152.6 in Cape Breton.

The interrupter clause allows the UARB to respond to sudden and significant changes in the petroleum market and adjust prices ahead of the regular weekly change.

Meanwhile the price of gas did not change overnight and still goes for a minimum of $1.34.2 in Cape Breton.

A spokesperson for the Board says the regular weekly price adjustment is still expected to occur this week in addition to last night’s interruption.
