Charlotte St. Soon To Be Reopened

The Regional Municipality says Charlotte Street in Sydney will be fully reopening to traffic this weekend.

The statement comes as the third and final phase of the $9 million Charlotte Street Redevelopment project is about to wrap up and as students get ready to attend the new downtown campus of the community college for the first time.

With orientation happening on Tuesday and Wednesday and cruise ships scheduled in port on both days, the municipality is advising drivers to stay alert and allow extra time with increased traffic expected in the downtown area.

The municipality also says a new traffic light is now up and running at the corner of the Esplanade and Townsend Street to improve traffic flow and safety.
