CB Unemployment Rate 13.1 Percent In October

The latest numbers from Stats Canada show Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 13.1 per cent, last month.

That’s an increase of four-tenths of a percentage point from September.

But it’s 2.2 percentage points lower than October of last year.

Meanwhile, Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was 7.5 percent, last month.

The national unemployment rate was unchanged from September at 5.5 percent.

The federal agency says national employment grew by 2.4% on a year over year basis, driven by gains in full-time work.
