Recreation Month
CPRA celebrates the month of June as Parks and Recreation Month. The month provides the opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of parks and recreation and the role it plays in the quality of life for all Canadians.
It’s a way to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy.
Access to park and recreation is a fundamental human need that helps foster personal health, strong communities, and social inclusion. It raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental well-being.
ALS Month
ALS Awareness Month is a campaign to spread awareness of and raise funds for research for a cure for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s D
ALS is a progressive disease in which a person’s brain loses connection with the muscles, slowly taking away their ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. There is no cure for ALS, but there is hope.

June’s birthstones are pearl, alexandrite and moonstone.
The birth flowers are rose and honeysuckle.

May 16th -22nd – National Road Safety Week
Canada Road Safety Week is an enforcement-driven initiative led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), and more specifically by the CACP’s Traffic Safety Committee. It is designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures in order to save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
This road safety awareness campaign is part of the broader Canada’s Road Safety Strategy 2025, which aims to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world. To this end, the campaign is focused on behaviours that put drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users most at risk:
