Approval Granted For Low Point Lighthouse Work

Sydney-Glace Bay MP Mike Kelloway’s office says the Department of Fisheries and Oceans has gotten approval and funding to preserve a lighthouse site in New Victoria.

The Low Point Lighthouse is located at the eastern entrance to Sydney Harbour and the Low Point Lighthouse Society has been trying for years to get work done to protect the structure from coastal erosion.

Kelloway’s Office says the project is now in the design, Indigenous consultation and environmental assessment phase.

It says construction is expected to be tendered in the spring or summer.
