New Fund For Young CB Performers

A new fund designed to help young Cape Breton performers was announced at Glace Bay’s Savoy Theatre, last night.

The Julie Martell Scholarship Fund will give performers the chance to apply for financial assistance to participate in arts activities either on or off the island.

It’s aimed at people between the ages of 15 and 22.

Cape Breton native Martell is performing on the Island for the first time in 20 years in a Neptune Theatre production of Mamma Mia!

The scholarship fund is supported by the Savoy Theatre and local businesses.

People going to performances of Mamma Mia at the Savoy this week are being asked to donate to the fund.
