by The Teachers Union says many principals and vice-principals have decided to step-down and return to the classroom as teachers if the McNeil government implements the Glaze report.
The government says it intends to accept all the recommendations made by Avis Glaze, including removing principals and vice-principals from the teachers union.
The union says the principal of Richmond Education Centre in St. Peter’s, Lois Landry, is among those planning to resign from her current role if the province follows through on that recommendation.
It quotes Landry as saying she’s not prepared to risk the uncertainty of working outside of the Teacher’s Union in the current climate.
The province is offering the union a one-time payment of 800-thousand dollars to make up for the loss of principals and vice-principals as members.
