CB Cancer Centre In Regional Study
The Cape Breton Cancer Centre is taking part in an Atlantic Canadian study to measure the distress of cancer patients.
Nova Scotia, P.E.I., and Newfoundland and Labrador have been awarded $1 million over three years for the study from Health Canada.
In Nova Scotia, the project includes a program where patients will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about psychosocial, practical and physical concerns.
They’ll be asked about their levels of anxiety, depression, fatigue, and pain.
The doctor leading the study, Janice Howes says her team will develop education sessions to help patients after identifying potential problem areas.
The program will also expand re-screening of patients after their cancer treatment.
