Weapons Accused Released On Bail
A former Sydney man was released on $2,500 bail today as he faces a number of charges after police arrested him at the Westmount Legion on Friday.
34-year-old Neil Thomas Brenton from Lloydminster, Saskatchewan faces 12 weapons charges, including two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of careless transportation of a weapon and ammunition, as well as possessing a handgun and 12-gauge shotgun shells with no license.
He also faces a charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Police got called to the Legion to reports of a man sleeping in a locked vehicle.
They say officers found cocaine on the man after waking him and getting him out of the vehicle.
Police say a search of the man and his vehicle turned up a gun and ammunition and a knife, as well as several more bags of cocaine.
Brenton is due back in court for arraignment on November 4th.
