Big Step in MV Miner Project, Today
A big step in work to remove the MV Miner will take place today when a shipment of armour stone arrives on the site.
Contractors RJ MacIsaac Construction plan to use the stone to build a road to the derelict vessel on Scaterie Island.
A company spokesperson says the access road will allow the workers to begin breaking the ship apart.
The Miner is expected to be completely dismantled by November.
RJ MacIsaac will hire twenty people to carry out the 11.9 million dollar project.
The Miner ran aground on Scaterie when its tow line broke in rough seas in September of 2011.
