Officer Injured After Being Hit By Car In Medically Induced Coma
The province’s police watchdog says the RCMP officer who shot a man to death on Saturday morning has been placed in a medically induced coma.
He was taken to hospital with what was described as non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle he was trying to stop in downtown Truro.
The Serious Incident Response Team says the officer ended up on the hood of the vehicle and the vehicle was speeding off when he fired his service pistol to stop the threat.
The name of the driver who died at the scene has not been released.
The SIRT says the officer was investigating a call about a stolen vehicle when he found it in Truro at around 2:30 in the morning and tried to stop it.
