CB Police at Moncton Funeral
Police from Cape Breton will be among upwards of 7-thousand officers from across North America taking part in the funeral for three slain Mounties in Moncton, today.
The RCMP says more than 10 of its officers from the Island will be in attendance.
The Cape Breton Regional Police are sending a contingent of 18, including Police Chief Peter MacIsaac.
The regimental funeral for constables Fabrice Gevaudan, Douglas Larche and Dave Ross will take place at the Moncton Coliseum at 1:00, this afternoon.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor General David Johnston are also scheduled to attend.
24-year-old Justin Bourque is facing three charges of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder after last week’s shootings.
He made a brief court appearance on Friday and he is due back in court on July 3.
