Youth Charged In Vehicle Theft

Regional Police say a 16-year-old Westmount boy faces charges in connection to a vehicle stolen from a home on Wendy Street early Friday morning.

They add the vehicle was later spotted on Rudderham Road where Regional Police and RCMP officers were doing traffic enforcement.

The officers say they spotted two people getting out of the vehicle in a wooded area before the driver fled.

Police say the driver was arrested at a home on Fairmount Drive on Saturday.

The two others in the car were arrested beforehand but were released without charges.

Police say the driver was taken to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre while he awaits a court appearance.

He’s facing charges of Taking a Vehicle without Consent, Mischief, Flight from Police and Breach of Conditions.

Officers later found the stolen vehicle and seized it as part of their investigation.
