Yet Another Delay With Marine Atlantic’s New Ferry

There’s been yet another delay in getting Marine Atlantic’s new ferry into service.

The Crown Corporation says international experts continue to work around the clock to clean debris from the fuel and lubrication system of the Ala’suinu.

However, it says the problem has not yet been resolved, and, as a result, Argentia crossings have now been cancelled up to July 10th.

Capacity on the Port aux Basques run is being increased to take customers scheduled on the Argentia run using the Blue Puttees, Highlanders, and Leif Ericson ferries.

The Ala’suinu was originally scheduled to go into service on June 14th, but that was delayed until June 26th and then again to July 3rd before the most recent delay until July 10th.
