Yakimchuk Being Invested Into Order of Nova Scotia, Today

Whitney Pier’s Clotilda Yakimchuk is one of six people being invested into the Order of Nova Scotia, today.

Yakimchuk is being honoured for her life to the service of others and the health of her community.

She’s the first black graduate of the Nova Scotia Hospital School of Nursing and went on to be the first, and only, black president of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Nova Scotia.

She’s also created an award for nursing students at Cape Breton University.

The investiture ceremony takes place at 11:00 this morning at Province House in Halifax.
