Woman Fined After Two-Vehicle Crash

A 22 year-old Glace Bay woman has been fined for distracted driving after an accident on Grand Lake Road last night.

Regional Police say they got a call just after 10:00 to a section of highway near the Sydney Speedway where two cars crashed head-on.

The driver of one of the cars was taken to hospital right away with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say officers were able to speak with the other driver before that person was taken to hospital.

One of the drivers got two summary offence tickets- one on a charge of using a cell phone while driving and another on a charge of driving without insurance.

The two fines add up to $1,500.
