Witness At Barrett Murder Trial Facing Charges After Sydney Attack

A Crown witness in last month’s Barrett murder trial is facing criminal charges of her own.

29 year-old Ashley Nicole MacDonald is Barrett’s former girlfriend.

She faces counts of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon (a hammer) and assault.

The aggravated assault and the assault charges involve two female complainants.

MacDonald was arrested shortly before noon on Tuesday after Regional Police were called to reports that a woman had fled a Sydney home after being assaulted.

Police say a 39-year-old woman at the Inglis Street address was taken to the Regional Hospital with serious injuries and has since been released.

MacDonald made a brief court appearance yesterday and will remain in custody until a bail hearing tomorrow.
