Winter Storm Shuts Down Cape Breton

Pretty much everything in Cape Breton is shut down this morning with a winter storm hitting the Island.

All Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education schools are closed today as well as Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney.

The Marconi Campus of the community college is also closed today as well as the Cape Breton University campus.

Transit Cape Breton services are cancelled this morning and the situation will be reassessed to determine if the service will resume this afternoon.

Cape Breton Regional Municipality offices will be closed this morning.

Garbage pickup is cancelled today in Victoria County and all County facilities are delaying opening until noon as well as provincial government offices.

Meanwhile, all roads on the Island are snow-covered with poor visibility in blowing snow.

And the Englishtown ferry is out of service this morning because of weather conditions.
