Whitney Pier’s “Road to Nowhere” will finally open to traffic this month.
Regional public works manager Ray Boudreau says he expects the road to be open by the end of the first week of January.
The road was built seven years ago as an alternative route between Ashby and Whitney Pier. It runs across the site of the Sydney steel plant’s former coke ovens from Inverness Street to the intersection of Lingan Road and the SPAR.
Plans to open the road last spring were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
