Whitney Pier Youth Club Wants Volunteers To Help Build Addition

The Whitney Pier Youth Club is issuing an urgent public appeal for volunteers to help build an expansion to the club.

Youth Club director Chester Borden says the 350-thousand dollar project is behind schedule because of poor summer weather and a lack of volunteers.

He goes on to say the club has been trying to encourage people, especially skilled tradespeople to help with the project but adds the community isn’t showing up.

Only the basement and the subfloor for the main level have been built so far and Borden says he’s hoping the walls can be raised next week.

He adds, on top of that, the club will lose its temporary home at Whitney Pier Memorial Junior High School when the students return, next week.
