Whitney Pier Man Killed In Botched Edmonton Robbery

A Whitney Pier native is the man killed during a botched armoured truck robbery in Edmonton on Friday.

40 year-old Randy James Munian was shot by an armoured truck guard after police say he tried to rob it by spraying the guards with pepper spray.

Edmonton Police say the guard will not be charged because Munian’s death is considered a non culpable homicide.

Police are still looking for a second suspect in the robbery attempt.

Meanwhile, Munian’s death comes as a shock to his family, who remember him as a funny, free spirited father of five children, expecting a sixth child.

They say he worked as a scaffolder and add arrangements are now being made to hold his funeral in Nova Scotia.
