Weight Restrictions on Gravel Roads Take Effect, Today

An early thaw has prompted the provincial government to impose weight restrictions on gravel roads.

The Department of Transportation says gravel roads will be limited to a maximum of 15,000 kilograms until further notice beginning at noon, today.

It adds the weight restrictions are needed because unseasonably warm weather is softening the roads.

The department goes on to say it’ll continue to monitor road and weather conditions to determine when it’s safe to lift the restrictions.
