Vi’s Restaurant Being Torn Down This Morning

A Cape Breton landmark is being torn down, this morning.

Vi’s Restaurant in Whycocomagh has sat vacant since it closed in April of last year after nearly 60 years in business.

The provincial Department of Transportation has bought the property.

It says it wants the land to allow for road improvements in the area.

Word of the restaurant’s closing last year prompted many to turn to social media.

Responses lamenting the loss of Vi’s came from as far away as Los Angeles.
