Victim in Middle River Plane Crashed Identified

The victim in Saturday’s fatal plane crash in Middle River has been identified as Norman Overdijk, a well-known figure in the Canadian poker circuit.

The 54-year-old Middle River man died when the ultralight plane he was piloting crashed into a barn on West Side Middle River Road.

A 26-year-old passenger was airlifted to Halifax hospital and police have no update on his condition.

The PokerNews Canada website has an article remembering Overdijk who travelled coast to coast playing in Canada’s biggest poker tournaments.

Meanwhile, the RCMP says the Transportation Safety Board is not investigating the crash because the plane involved is a homemade, utlralight and out of its mandate.

The RCMP says their investigation into the crash is continuing.
