Verdict Expected Today In Kelloway Murder Trial

A Calgary judge is due to render a verdict today in the case of a man charged in the death of a former Glace Bay man.

32 year-old Nicholas Rasberry is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Craig Kelloway in 2013.

After a two-week trial, lawyers made their final arguments in the case, last week.

The defence argued that Rasberry should be acquitted because he was acting in self defence and fighting for his life when he stabbed Kelloway.

Rasberry says he had to fight back after Kelloway tried to sexually assault him.

However, the Crown noted that Kelloway was stabbed 37 times and argued that Rasberry’s actions went beyond self defence to murder.

The judge in the case put off a decision until, today.
