Unlawful Confinement Case Back In Court

The case of a 30 year-old man charged with unlawful confinement after an incident in Richmond County is due back in court, today.

The trial for Justin Daniel MacLeod was adjourned in December after he fired his lawyer.

The matter was put over again last month after MacLeod said he was still searching for a new lawyer.

MacLeod pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful confinement as well as a breach of conditions in June of last year.

RCMP say he met a woman at a party in April and offered her a ride home.

However, they add instead he brought her to a secluded area of Richmond County and locked her in his family cabin.

Police go on to say the woman escaped after MacLeod left.

Regional Police arrested MacLeod the next day.

He’s been released on strict conditions.
