The president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union of Canada says he’s “extremely disappointed” staff at Sydney’s Travelodge weren’t notified about a guest who tested positive for COVID-19.
Tim Hosford says Travelodge ownership and management have an obligation to provide a safe workplace, and a legal obligation to notify employees.
Hotel general manager Gloria LeForte says all health and safety protocols are being followed, and the hotel is doing everything according to the health authorities’ guidelines.
LeForte says she’s been in discussions with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 864 over the past few days, and they’re collaborating to ensure everything needed to keep their staff and guests safe is in place.
