Union Drive at Donkin Mine

The United Mine Workers of America says it’s going to try and unionize workers at the Donkin Mine.

Recently retired UMWA rep Bob Burchell won’t say exactly when the union drive will begin.

The mine just began producing coal in February after two years of preparation.

There are 64 workers at Donkin but the workforce is expected to grow to 130 over the next couple of years.

Mine owners Kameron Collieries are not commenting on the union drive.
