Two-Man Race For Mayor

The election for Mayor in the Regional Municipality will be a two-man race.

After nominations closed yesterday, incumbent Mayor Cecil Clarke and New Dawn Enterprises President Rankin MacSween will be the only names on the ballot.

In 2012, Clarke took 59 percent of the vote while MacSween got 38 percent in a five-person contest.

Meanwhile, every Council seat will be contested with Districts 2 and 3 seeing six-person races and Districts 3, 4 and 9 each having five candidates to choose from.

The school board election is a different story with five of the ten members acclaimed after facing no challengers.

Municipal and School Board Elections take place on October 15th.

The first day of advance polling is October 6th.
